Professional Strengths

Jody is a compassionate, strengths-based clinician who specializes in supporting elementary-aged children with learning disabilities and neurodivergence. She helps children thrive at home and in school by focusing on their unique strengths and providing practical tools for success. Jody also partners with parents to navigate ADA rights and advocate effectively through IEP and 504 processes.

Experience and Education

In addition to her work with children, Jody leads virtual co-parenting groups, providing guidance and connection to parents navigating separation, divorce, and family restructuring. She creates a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment where parents and children feel seen, supported, and empowered to advocate for their needs with confidence.

Jody is trained in a wide range of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, play-based approaches, trauma-informed interventions, and creative arts techniques. She also brings specialized experience in mediation (including parent/teen mediation), repairing disrupted parent-child relationships, trauma recovery, and supporting families through divorce and conflict. Her work is deeply informed by the principles of polyvagal theory, and she integrates an understanding of neuroception and nervous system regulation into her therapeutic practice.

Passionate about helping women rebuild confidence and reclaim personal power following life transitions such as divorce, trauma, domestic violence, or faith crises, Jody focuses on strengthening self-esteem, navigating workplace challenges, and supporting personal growth with clarity and compassion. Her advanced training includes domestic violence counseling, trauma-informed play therapy, rehabilitation counseling for neurodivergent individuals, and coaching for divorce and parenting transitions.

Jody holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. She is an AFCC Court-Informed Therapist and has extensive training in forensic interviewing through the Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center. Committed to continuous learning, she regularly updates her skillset to provide the best possible care for her clients.
