Professional Strengths
Madelyn Childs specializes in supporting children, teens, and families who are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem challenges, and relationship issues. She has a particular focus on neurodivergence, including Autism and ADD/ADHD, and works with young individuals to develop emotional regulation, communication skills, and self-confidence. Her goal is to help children and adolescents overcome obstacles and build resilience, while providing a safe and supportive space for them to express their emotions.
Experience and Education
As a graduate student at National University specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy with a focus on child and adolescent development, Madelyn is dedicated to guiding young individuals through key developmental milestones. Originally from Oregon, she completed her undergraduate studies at Brigham Young University-Idaho and now resides in Utah County. Her passion for supporting children and teens is rooted in her belief that every young person deserves the tools to thrive and grow into a confident, resilient individual.
At Unified Family Therapy, Madelyn works closely with families to create an environment where children and teens feel safe to explore their feelings and foster positive self-esteem. She uses evidence-based techniques such as Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Narrative Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy to promote healthy communication and emotional regulation.
Outside of work, Madelyn enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new destinations, reading, cooking, and playing music on the flute, piano, and guitar. These hobbies help her maintain balance and mindfulness, which she shares with her clients.
