Professional Strengths
Tonia understands the quiet unraveling that comes when something foundational like a relationship, belief system, or sense of self no longer fits. From the outside, you may look like you’re functioning just fine, keeping up with work, school, and family life, while inside you feel untethered. Tonia works at a pace that allows what is usually overlooked to come into focus, helping you listen to what your anxiety, anger, or grief is asking for.
Tonia’s work is collaborative, reflective, relational, and sometimes uncomfortable in gentle and useful ways. She is warm, empathic, compassionate, and nonjudgmental as she challenges the stories that keep you stuck. She offers a steady presence as you work through family conflict, parent-child relationships, faith transitions, divorce, forgiveness and trust, loss, anxiety, and depression.
Tonia practices from a trauma-informed lens and works hard to personalize the therapy experience for her clients.
Experience and Education
Tonia is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University. Prior to becoming a therapist, she built a successful career in marketing, public relations, and advertising across Chicago, New York, Montana, and Utah including leadership roles in high-tech industries. After working as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for the state of Utah, something shifted and she knew it was time to pivot.
Tonia uses approaches including DBT, CBT, and Internal Family Systems and is committed to finding modalities that work for her clients.
Tonia’s work is informed by personal insight from divorce, parenting teenagers, supporting a child with ADHD, and a personal faith transition. She loves spending time with her family, playing pickleball, writing, cooking, traveling, and hiking. Besides becoming a mother, one of Tonia’s most cherished moments is watching the sunrise from the summit of Kilimanjaro.
